What are the categories of films and screenplays accepted?
Yosemite International Film Festival accepts Features, Shorts, Documentaries, Student Films, Action Sports Films, Foreign Films, Environmental Films, Music Videos, Screenplays, Television Pilots, and Experimental Films. We accept Feature and Short Screenplays along with Spec Scripts and Television Pilots.
What are the deadlines?
Early Deadline - January 20, 2012
Regular Deadline - April 20, 2012
Late Deadline - July 20, 2012
Extended Deadline - September 15, 2012
What are the fees?
Early Deadline - Short: $25 / Feature: $30
Regular Deadline - Short: $30 / Feature: $35
Late Deadline - Short: $35 / Feature: $40
Extended Deadline - Short: $45 / Feature: $50

Is there a student fee?
Students may receive a $10 discount on their submissions. Please include a copy of a your student ID.
How long is a short film?
Films under 50 minutes are considered short films.
How long is a feature film?
Films over 50 minutes are considered feature films.
Is there any chance of a fee waiver?
Unfortunately, no. We have to pay our judges to screen and rate the films and we rely on entry fees to cover this expense.
Should I send a press kit?
Please do not send a press kit. Consider the environment. If your film is selected we will contact you for photos and press materials.
Can I still submit if my film has distribution?
Yes.
Will my submission be returned?
Submissions will not be returned.
When will I find out if my project is awarded?
We notify filmmakers privately if they are awarded generally about one month prior to the public announcement date.
Are there awards?
Yes. The awards will be presented to the best project in each of the main competitive categories along with other special awards determined by our jury.
What are the acceptable preview formats?
For the submission process, we prefer to screen NTSC DVD's (Region 0 or 1). We can accept PAL and Blu-ray.
Is there an age requirement for the film festival?
Filmmakers of any age can submit to the event as long as they are not prohibited from doing so by the laws of their respective states.
Can I get confirmation that you received my submission?
Yes, please send a self-addressed stamped postcard.
Do you accept both DVD+R and DVD-R discs?
Yes, but please check the discs on your home player before sending.
